Thaddeus Mensah

Thaddeus Mensah was born in Sampa, Ghana, West Africa. Was mentored and trained by his father as a Master Leather Craftsman. He turned this trade into a creative passion of Fashion and Design. He has lived in Europe, the Caribbean and now resides in the United States. He currently works for the IRS. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and supports various community projects. Thaddeus was recently appointed to be one of the traditional chiefs representing the Asante Cultural Society of Southern California.

Marvin Boateng

Marvin works as Program Manager/Loan Officer for the Economic Development Collaborative-Ventura County and as a Small Business Advisor for the Small Business Development Center. Marvin Boateng has experience in community organizing, fundraising, and project management.

Joan Mensah

Joan has an A.A.S in Business Administration. She has more than 20 years working experience in the Corporate world. Joan has toured through Europe, lived in the Caribbean for 6 years and has traveled to Ghana numerous times. Joan served 2-1/2 years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Education Sector teaching at a Secondary school in a low-income area of Kingston, Jamaica.

Dr. Kristen Brown

Dr. Kristen Brown has worked overseas as a Small Business Advisor for the U.S. Peace Corps, Port Antonio, Jamaica, a Group Leader for Operation Crossroads Africa, Inc., in Gambia, West Africa, and a Foreign Advisor at Gram Educational Institute, Inc. Taichung, Taiwan. She currently works as an Education Research and Evaluation Consultant for the California Department of Education.

Francis Appiah

Francis holds a B.A. in Biology, Master in Environmental Occupational Health. He is a talented traditional and professional drummer.

 

Jean Sowieralski

Public Relations Officer
Jean, our Public Relations Officer, is the newest Board member.  Jean played a “quiet” role in SCEP’s start up efforts to obtain exempt nonprofit 501(c)(3) status.  Since that time, Jean has participated in projects and fundraising efforts demonstrating her ongoing commitment to SCEP.   She brings with her over a decade of experience in public, private and nonprofit sectors.  Jean has a business degree and extensive background working with high profile officials and business executives.

Betty Akwaboah Boateng

B.S. in Nursing. Betty Akwaboah Boateng is a native of Akoasi, in the eastern region of Ghana. She graduated from Loma Linda University with a B.S. in Nursing, and currently works for Kaiser Permanente as a registered nurse.
